About Us

Vacationing and after-school activity can be as simple and affordable as wandering out past the boundaries of your city/town and sleeping in your vehicle with your little one next to a stream.

My son is now 11 years old (as of 2022) and is used to random road trips, eating dried camping goods, and climbing around in my little utility vehicle. I am a 35-year old writer always on the lookout for natural entertainment that educates us and is easy on the checkbook.

I was raised in a hunter/gatherer tradition in the Pacific Northwest. Hunting chanterelles, swimming in rivers, hiking, and fun in nature were the only free things my family could afford. Now, I pass on that knowledge to my own kin.

Link (about 5 yr old) and Jenn (younger than now)

Our outdoor adventures tend to involve:
  • spontaneous travel with no specific destination in mind,
  • unexpected finds,
  • minimalist camping,
  • exploring off the beaten path,
  • learning about ecology,
  • foraging,
  • hidden museums and historical treasures, and
  • pulling out the kayak or fishing pole at whatever body of water we land at (within regulations).
Come join us on our random adventures of the beautiful and wonderful joys the natural landscape has to offer!
